Johannesburg - There would be more than 4.4 million more people in South Africa if it were not for the Aids pandemic, according to a survey released on Monday.

"Currently, there are 50.6m people in the country. In the absence of Aids, this would have been 55m," said the SA Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR).

"The data shows that 31% of all deaths in 2011 were Aids-related. By 2015, this proportion will have risen to 33%. In 2025, there will be 121% more Aids deaths than there were in 2000," it said.

SAIRR said and estimated six million people would be living with HIV/Aids in 2015, double the number recorded in 2000.

Researcher Thuthukani Ndebele said HIV/Aids had resulted in a significantly slower population growth rate.

"Not only does HIV/Aids reduce life expectancy and increase mortality, but it is largely responsible for wider social ills such as orphanhood and child-headed households," he said.

The survey is based on data sourced from the Actuarial Society of South Africa and the Institute for Futures Research.

Being one of the few Zimbabweans who got the chance to join the ANC in celebrating 100 years of existence in Mangaung, I stubbornly refuse to call it Bloemfontein, let me take this opportunity to wish my South African brother's a happy anniversary.

I hope you will have another 100 years of bringing meaningful change to the lives of the poor people in Kayelitsha, Alexandra and many other slums whose inhabitants do not hear, but listen to Letta Mbulu's classic hit, Not Yet Uhuru.

This powerful ditty not only captures the tragedy of many African countries that got the crown minus the crown jewels; but South Africa's unique condition of being a political and socio-economic binary.

In Mzansi the white minority has a stranglehold on the means of production while for many freedom, not independence, has just meant seeing black faces in government which explains the anger among the likes of Julius Malema.

Well it is not my place to try to spoil the spirit of the centenary. A hundred cheers to my fellow brothers!

In his address in Mangaung, ANC president Jacob Zuma rightly paid tribute to countries in southern Africa and many others as far afield as Cuba and the Nordic countries for the crucial role they played in bringing freedom to South Africa.

Its worth noting that in his 56 page speech, Msholozi made no mention of the countries that today pass themselves off as the originators and defenders of neo-liberal democracy the United States and Britain for rather than abet South Africa's cause for independence, these countries actually abetted apartheid.

UPDATE: Zimbabwe policeman is denied asylum in Britain... but Robert Mugabe torturer can stay

As previously reported: Guy Taylor's British great-grandfather fought for Britain in the Anglo Boer War and on the Somme before the family moved to Zimbabwe. Guy Taylor has now sought refuge in Britain, where he applied for asylum, fearing a return to Zimbabwe would leave him facing persecution, as a former policeman and member of the MDC.

Taylor's application for asylum was however dismissed by the immigration judges (he has since refiled new claims).

Taylor's case provoked fury as it occurred after the Immigration Judges decision to allow Phillip Machemedze, one of Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF torturers to stay in the UK indefinitely.

Machemedze, who joined the CIO in 1996, arrived in the UK in 2000 after he had “enough of the torture”, he told an immigration tribunal.

He admitted to smashing the jaw of an MDC activist with pliers before pulling out his tooth and stripping another naked and threatening to force him to rape his daughters if he did not give information.

He also confessed to electrocuting, slapping, beating and punching "to the point of being unconscious" a white farmer suspected of giving money to the MDC, and to "putting salt into the wounds" of a female MDC member who was imprisoned in an underground cell before being stripped naked and whipped.

In 1981 began a time of terror and death for ANC members in exile. In February a strong ANC National Executive Committee entourage which incuded President Tambo made the rounds of all ANC camps in Angola. Cadres were warned of the presence of a spy network and the need for vigilance was emphasised. Enemy agents and provocateurs were rudely warned by Piliso, in Xhosa, '.. I'll hang them by their balls.' An 'internal enemy' psychosis had been whipped up and whenever ANC leaders visited camps they were heavily guarded. Many men and women were apprehended on suspicion of dissidence were to be exterminated in the most brutal manner in the months ahead. Those disiullusioned MK cadres who returned from Rhodesia were the first to go.(p.49)

I became aware of these developments by word of mouth, but I was to discover later on, by personal experience, the terror of Quatro, to name but one death camp. People were removed from amongst us -- taken to Quatro or Camp 13 -- and disappeared forever without reason. Many of them were slaughtered by one means or another and their ultimate destination was a shallow grave. We heard rumours of execution by being buried alive, amongst many other techniques beyond civilized imagination. The purge created great fear amongst all of us, to the point where the smallest criticism, such as of badly prepared food, was seriously reconsidered by every individual, for one could never be certain that a 'best friend' would keep his mouth shut. (p.49)

Our own security people became exceedingly arrogant, to the point where an innocent slip of the tongue or even a simple gesture could land you in a torture cell at Quatro. Security men of the lowest rank and intelligence -- fourteen to eighteen year olds -- became our masters, with the power of life or death in their hands. They acted on a mood with impugnity. Oliver Tambo visited Pango [Camp] at the height of the terror. The path from the entrance to the admin building was lined -- like a scene from 'Spartacus' -- with men, bloodied and filthy, hanging from trees. When his entourage arrived at admin, where I was officer on duty, Tambo's chief of staff told us that there would be a meeting at 'the stage' (a clearing in the jungle... where we held meetings and discussions). Runners were sent out to notify everyone in the vicinity. On his way to the stage [Oliver Tambo] again passed the men tied to the trees. Being officer on duty, I could not attend the meeting, but my deputy went. After a while I saw guards come up from the stage, release the prisoners and take them to the meeting. There, my deputy told me, instead of objecting to their treatment, as I had hoped, Tambo berated them for their dissident behaviour and appeared to approve when Andrew Masondo declared that on the presidents next visit they would be in shallow graves behind the stage. The prisoners were returned to their trees.. where the president [Oliver Tambo] passed the unfortunate men without a glance on his way out, and they hung there for another three months -- followed by three months hard labour. Insincere KnowItAllers and Sincere Truthseekers:

In my worldview there are two types of people and you find these two types of people in any group, race, tribe, religion, nation, etc. There are insincere conservatives, liberals, communists, Christians, muslims, feminists, racists; and there are sincere conservatives, liberals, communists, Christians, muslims, feminists, racists. Put differently the Insincere could be called KnowItAllers and the sincere could be called Truthseekers. The degree of anyone’s KnowItAller vs Truthseeking cognitive communicative and listening capabilities on any issue/s is directly proportional to their Ego-Identity Psychological Investment into any strong group identity associated to that particular issue.

For example: I upset allot of people from feminists to anti-feminists, racists to anti-racists to black/white nationalists, Christians, muslims, liberals, conservatives, communists, capitalists, because I refuse to join either their own ideological, racial or religious group or its anti-thesis. If I refuse to join their own group, the least I can do is join their opposition and thereby provide them with opposing credibility.

Why do so many 'conservatives' who allegedly value the principle of personal responsibility, support Breivik being denied the right to a free and fair trial, to take personal responsibility for his actions? Why are so many 'conservatives' supporting liberal and communist values of shutting anyone up who does not follow their particular method of protest or action, by implementing communist political psychiatry?

Here’s how John Osborn, an extraordinary activist and friend, sums up his reasons for doing the work: “As things become increasingly chaotic, I want to make sure some doors remain open. If grizzly bears are still alive in twenty, thirty, and forty years, they may still be alive in fifty. If they’re gone in twenty, they’ll be gone forever.”

But no matter what environmentalists do, our best efforts are insufficient. We’re losing badly, on every front. Those in power are hell-bent on destroying the planet, and most people don’t care.

On 23 November 2011 I filed a complaint to Politie Amsterdam-Amstelland of charges of fraud against Algemene Dagblad Editor: Casper Naber; C/O & VIA: Ambassador de Vos, Netherlands Embassy, Pretoria.
CHARGES:

Fraud: the unlawful and intentional misrepresentation or perversion of the truth, which can lead to actual or potential disadvantage or prejudice to another individual or group.

Corruption: Relevant Dutch Anti-Corruption law, in accordance to Article 5, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20 of United Nations Convention Against Corruption

Complaint:

On 09 May 2011, I, Lara Johnstone, as a member of the Radical Honesty culture, filed charges (ICC complaint attached) against aforementioned individuals with the International Criminal Court (ICC) requesting the Office of Prosecutor (OTP): Luis Moreno – Ocampo, of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Hague to investigate the alleged Defendants and Accessories on charges of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity, in terms of Art 5(1)(a) & (b), 6(c) and 7(1)(h) of the Rome Statute.

The Complainants Requested the ICC: Prosecutor’s Office to:
Initiate an investigation into the allegations that the respondents are to be held criminally culpable for their endorsement and concealment of TRC FRAUD, the consequences of which are genocide and crimes against humanity against white South Africans, and ethno-cultural legal and political persecution of Afrikaner/Boer and Radical Honesty cultures.

Complainants allege the Defendants cover up and censorship of the ANC and Anti-Apartheid Movements (i) Frantz Fanon/Black Consciousness (‘liberation by violence on the rotting corpse of the settlers’) (ii) Black Liberation Theology (‘violent elimination of ‘whiteness’); and (iii) Houari Boumediene/Black Power Breeding War (“The wombs of our women will give us victory”)[1] inspired TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION FRAUD (“TRC FRAUD”) perpetrated against citizens of South Africa, and predominantly against white Afrikaner/Boer/Settlers; is committed in the context of endorsing the ANC’s institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by Africans over other racial groups, particularly Boer/Afrikaners and committed with the intention of maintaining the African ANC regime.

All aforementioned newspaper publications whom charges have been filed against continue to refuse their duty to report this information in the public interest, by censoring this information from South African and International citizens.

On 24 November and 25 November I requested Ambassador de Vos to confirm receipt, and to honourably inform me that he had forwarded my complaint to the Amsterdam Politie, to provide me with the relevant contact details, so that I could get a reference number.
Could you please confirm that you have honourably and professionally forwarded the complaint to the Amsterdam-Amstelland Politie, as requested; so that I can be issued a Complaint Reference Number for the matter; to report it to the ICC Prosecutor’s office, et al.

I also have not yet received the reply from Minister Rosenthal in response to: Request for (A) Written Reasons; or (B) Parliamentary Hearing: Request Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (I) Provide Full Written Reasons clarifying the alleged errors of fact or of law made in the Jus Sanguinis Petition and Briefing Paper submitted to Netherlands (& EU Progenitor) Governments; or (II) Recommend Dutch or EU Parliament to hold a hearing on the Jus Sanguinis Petition issues to EU Stamvader nations to hear the available International and South African Expert Witness testimony, to determine (a) the factual and legal accuracy and if so seriousness of the issues raised in the Jus Sanguinis petition; and (b) consider all relevant options for resolving the issues; such as amending relevant (i) Foreign Policy laws by politically endorsing a Boer Volkstaat in South Africa; and/or (ii) Nationality laws by enacting Jus Sanguinis Right-of-Return legislation for their African White Refugee 'settler' descendants, to return to their progenitors motherland/s. Could you please clarify whether the Dutch Government ever intends to provide any honourable response to these matters; or whether you are just going to ignore these requests, as if they do not exist, and you never received them?

Are charges of FRAUD and CORRUPTION irrelevant in the Netherlands when such charges are made against Newspaper editors and journalists?

Are journalists and editors ABOVE THE LAW in the Netherlands?

On 23 November 2011 I filed a complaint to Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, NYPD; against the New York Times: Public Editor: Arthur Brisbane and Africa Bureau Chief: Celia Dugger.
CHARGES:

Fraud: the unlawful and intentional misrepresentation or perversion of the truth, which can lead to actual or potential disadvantage or prejudice to another individual or group.

Corruption: New York Penal Law Code Article 460: Enterprise Corruption and relevant law in accordance to Article 5, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20 of United Nations Convention Against Corruption

Complaint:

On 09 May 2011, I, Lara Johnstone, as a member of the Radical Honesty culture, filed charges (ICC complaint attached) against aforementioned individuals with the International Criminal Court (ICC) requesting the Office of Prosecutor (OTP): Luis Moreno – Ocampo, of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Hague to investigate the alleged Defendants and Accessories on charges of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity, in terms of Art 5(1)(a) & (b), 6(c) and 7(1)(h) of the Rome Statute.

The Complainants Requested the ICC: Prosecutor’s Office to:
Initiate an investigation into the allegations that the respondents are to be held criminally culpable for their endorsement and concealment of TRC FRAUD, the consequences of which are genocide and crimes against humanity against white South Africans, and ethno-cultural legal and political persecution of Afrikaner/Boer and Radical Honesty cultures.

Complainants allege the Defendants cover up and censorship of the ANC and Anti-Apartheid Movements (i) Frantz Fanon/Black Consciousness (‘liberation by violence on the rotting corpse of the settlers’) (ii) Black Liberation Theology (‘violent elimination of ‘whiteness’); and (iii) Houari Boumediene/Black Power Breeding War (“The wombs of our women will give us victory”)[1] inspired TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION FRAUD (“TRC FRAUD”) perpetrated against citizens of South Africa, and predominantly against white Afrikaner/Boer/Settlers; is committed in the context of endorsing the ANC’s institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by Africans over other racial groups, particularly Boer/Afrikaners and committed with the intention of maintaining the African ANC regime.

All aforementioned newspaper publications whom charges have been filed against continue to refuse their duty to report this information in the public interest, by censoring this information from South African and International citizens.

On 24 November and 25 November I requested Ambassador Gips to confirm receipt, and to honourably inform me that he had forwarded my complaint to the NYPD, to provide me with the relevant NYPD contact, so that I could get a reference number.

Unfortunately your Ambassador and his Pretoria Embassy staff appear to be either (A) petrified of the New York Times, (B) corrupt cowardly motherfuckers; or (C) don’t provide Embassy services to honourable, honest professional Radical Honoursty world citizens (demonstrating they only serve lying corrupt cowards); (D) a combination of all of the above.

If these fuckers at the US Embassy in Pretoria cannot even forward a goddamn fucking complaint to the New York Police Department (which I imagine the most incompetent nigger post office master in Detroit could do); how the fuck am I supposed to communicate with such incompetent unprofessional dishonourable individuals in regards to: PROJECT BW.PHI.618 ALQANOON.

If you remove your most competent staff – for example General Stanley McChrystal – how the fuck do you expect to get any of your goals accomplished, with incompetent liberal arse kissing fuckwits? I am neither a conventional liberal or conservative. I am a truthseeker: many of my working hypotheses on social, political, ecological and many other issues include ideas from the vast spectrum of ideologies, whether liberal, conservative, nationalist, green, libertarian, etc. I evaluate a principle based upon the evidence that supports it, and that is it. I do not practice political correct ideological arse-kissing, simply so that I can be allowed into some ideological group, and now feel happy, cause I can call myself a 'blah blah-ist'. I have plenty of time for a sincere liberal, conservative, black, green, pink. I fucking hate hypocrits, who demand from others, that which they do not practice themselves.

My knowledge of Steve Sailor is that he is an avid critic of liberal hypocrisy. I have no problem with hypocrisy being critized and exposed, whether it is black, white, liberal or conservative.

One of the principles I love about what conservatism allegedly stands for (at least it does for some people, but clearly not for Mr. Sailor) is that an individual or idea is evaluated upon its merit. Not its colour, not its political correctness, not the size of its PR account, ITS MERIT. That means that if you are a sincere conservative who practices this principle of evaluation of any individual, based on their merit (the quality of their character or the factual evidence for the principle), then you do not care one iota for whether Tom Thumb or Galileo has zero followers to adhere to their principle or idea; because you evaluate the principle and idea on its merit.

Since the population of South Africa have abolished apartheid, the attention of the international media has ignored events in South Africa. The situation of the Afrikaner volk, also known as the ‘boeren’, is drastically deteriorating. Since 1994 more than 3,000 white farmers have been murdered in South Africa, under gruesome circumstances. The situation is so urgent that the Washington based organisation Genocide Watch in September 2011 raised the status of the white South African genocide from phase 5 (polarisation) to stage 6 (preparation).

The Dutch government, like its predecessors, allows for a deafening silence regarding these serious violations of human rights. In the European Parliament, however, the MP Philip Claeys has raised the matter of these massacres to the EU spotlight. Voorpost demands the Dutch goverment also signs up their objections.

For Voorpost, racist violence is unacceptable. That is why Voorpost shall be conducting a protest on Thursday, November 24, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the South African Embassy in The Hague. Voorpost Post draws attention to the racist murders of white farmers in South Africa and also demands action from the South African government. The protest action has been reported to the police. Voorpost Netherlands director shall also make a speech at the protest.

Yesterday in America, two men were executed, but you will probably only have heard of one of them: Troy Davis, who was killed in the state of Georgia for the murder of a police officer. The other executed man, Lawrence Brewer, put to death in the state of Texas for murdering a black man in 1998, has barely featured in the news at all. Unlike Davis, he did not win the backing of Amnesty International and its trendy supporters. No one tweeted and retweeted their sorrow over Brewer or made a public spectacle of how heavy his execution weighed upon their hearts, as many did with Davis. No one lit candles outside the American Embassy for Brewer in full glare of photojournalists’ clicking cameras. No one wore t-shirts saying “I AM LAWRENCE BREWER”.

In Chelsea on Saturday, a place I very rarely visit, I happened upon two young women wearing t-shirts saying: “I AM TROY DAVIS.” The sight of these girls, walking through streets packed with posh boutiques, got me thinking about the campaign to prevent the execution of Davis, which is due to take place in the US state of Georgia this evening. Is it really a practical effort to prevent the killing of a man, or is it a means for human-rights activists to advertise their decency? Lawyer details Breivik's 'demands'

The lawyer defending the confessed killer in Norway’s twin terror attacks said today that his client has presented a long list of “unrealistic” demands.

These include the resignation of the government and that his mental condition be investigated by Japanese specialists.

Geir Lippestad told the Associated Press that Anders Behring Breivik is linking these demands to his willingness to share information about two other alleged terrorist cells that Breivik has mentioned during questioning.

Mr Lippestad said the 32-year-old Norwegian wants to be investigated by Japanese specialists because “the Japanese understand the idea and values of honour”.

The July 22 bombing in Norway’s government quarter in Oslo and a shooting massacre at a Labour Party youth camp on Utoya island killed 77 people.

While I was out feeding my worms this afternoon; my mother received a telephone call. A man telephoned with a very cryptic message. He asked to speak to me. She said I had left on my bicycle.

She told him that I was not here and he left a message to leave his regards. She asked him who she should say called. He said Andre from Las Vegas.

She said he sounded like he was pretending to be gay. She was confused by his response, wondering if it was my brother Andre (a professional poker player currently in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker) playing a joke on her. So she asked if it was Andre (my brother); but it wasn't. 'Gay Andre' asked my mother why I had not informed him that my brother was also in Las Vegas and also played poker; then they could have gotten together. He said he would call again later. She said it sounded very strange and was very cryptic.

The company was set up to cultivate vegetables, melons, roots and tubers, Norway's TV2 says, which provided him the opportunity to purchase six tons of fertilizer, an ingredient used in bomb-making.

In the mid-1990s the SACP, with Joe Slovo much to the fore, became enamoured of the Human Development Index (HDI) pioneered by the UN Development Programme because instead of ranking countries by GDP per capita the UNDP was interested in a broader measure of welfare which would include the quality of life in that country, life expectancy, child and maternal mortality rates, social equality, achievements in education and health, gender equality and so on.

The UNDP measure had two immensely appealing features for the SACP. First, it promised to rank countries like Cuba a lot higher than usual because they enjoyed equal poverty, a goodish health system and more gender equality. So this would be a better measure for what the SACP was planning to achieve in South Africa. Accordingly, the SACP paid enormous and positive attention to each successive Human Development Report (HDR) of the UNDP and emphasized that what the government was most keenly interested in was human development.

But so far, little has been said specifically about the finer structure of these discontinuities. Instead, there is to be found a continuum of subjective judgments, ranging from "a severe and prolonged recession" (the prediction we most often read in the financial press), to Kunstler's "Long Emergency," to the ever-popular "Collapse of Western Civilization," painted with an ever-wider brush-stroke.

I don’t know what you mean by ‘right wing’. To be left or right of something, refers to particular reference points; in the same as to be West (left) or East (right) of Greenwich Meantime. So you can be in the Eastern Hemisphere, but be west of a particular reference point; i.e. Capetown is West of George; but both are in the Eastern Hemisphere. So what reference points do you refer to, when you say the VVK is ‘right wing’?

If Russel Botman is a far left communist, then perhaps it is true the VVK is far right of Russel Botman. But it is not clear which reference points you refer to, when you state that the VVK is ‘far right’.

Furthermore, if the VVK is indeed a ‘right wing’ organisation; what does that mean?

Does it mean they should not be listened to? They should be ignored, or censored? Their opinions are not worthy of critical enquiry and investigation?

For example: The liberal DA, African National Congress, Afriforum, FW de Klerk Foundation and Nelson Mandela Foundation, Afrikanerbond and South African media editors, all pretend to the world that they support ‘truth and reconciliation’. They pretend they support the rule of law and justice for all South Africa’s cultures and tribes.

I am a member of a culture whose social contract is founded on truth telling and sincere sensate forgiveness; where we have blacks and whites who live in accordance to our social contract of brutal honesty; and yet I am hated and despised by the Democratic Alliance, the ANC, who consider me to be lower than an Apartheid Kaffir. I am ignored as if I don’t exist.

They pretend to support ‘truth and reconciliation’ but at the same time endorse the legal and political persecution of the only individual in South Africa whose entire culture is founded on truth telling and sincere forgiveness. In fact CityPress consider a culture founded on truth telling and sincere forgiveness to be ‘right wing’.

So, what do you mean, Prof. Botman, when you say an organisation is ‘right wing’? And why even refer to any organisation as ‘right wing’, why not address the issues they raise, the issues and values they stand for; and if you have any objections to those issues, provide your evidence and engage them in debate.

Last week I joined a short discussion with Alex Lansdowne (DA Youth Leader for South Peninsula, Cape Town; Liberal; Realist. Proudly South African!!) and Sentletse (His tweets may contain views on any subject which may upset sensitive followers. Parental Guidance is strongly advised). Sentletse is an African Muslim who lives in Johannesburg and was giving a twitter edu-feed on African history. I picked up a retweet (RT) of Sentletse, retweeted by Alex; and responded to it, asking a few questions.

Alex responded to my questions (note questions, not statements of fact) by instructing Sentletse to ignore my questions and ignore me. Sentletse avoided answering my questions asking him to provide his definitions for what he considered to be 'racism' and 'harmonious existence', and how he could say that racism never existed before Europeans arrived, if he could not even provide a clear definition of what racism is. I answered Sentletse's questions, and then he followed Alex's suggesetion that I be ignored by proceeding to mute me.

Fair enough to say that neither of them showed any commitment towards answering questions and discussion.

Then yesterday, Alex posted a tweet about how upset he was with the ANCYL who “show a gross intolerance towards questions and discussion”. I responded that perhaps they learnt that from the DA Youth League. He then proceeded to inform me that if I submit clear questions to him, he would answer them.

All South Africans are settlers, regardless of their skin colour, and their DNA carries the proof.

So says Dr Wilmot James, head of the African Genome Project, a distinguished academic, sociologist and, more recently, honorary professor of human genetics at the University of Cape Town.

And he says South Africans will soon have a public genetic database which will show how the country became populated over thousands of years.

The African Genome project is supported by local genealogy website Ancestry24.com

James aims to trace the origins of South Africans "no matter what their language, ethnic origins, or skin colour".

"No one group can lay claim to South Africa. Everyone is a settler, and we will show how people came here in waves of migration."

Next month he and his colleague, associate professor Himla Soodyall, will do mass genetic testing of Capetonians.

Soodyall is the principal medical scientist at the National Health Laboratory Service and is an associate professor in the Division of Human Genetics at the University of the Witwatersrand.

James says he expects about 300 people will come for free testing on September 9. The test simply involves swabbing the inside of a person's cheek.

"Normally it costs R1 000 a time but this is a public exercise in science and a journey through the history of South Africa," said James.

The results will be out early in 2008. The data will be used to map how people migrated here more than 100 000 years ago. They will do similar testing in Johannesburg.

ZURICH (MarketWatch) — The Swiss Parliament is expected later this year to discuss the creation of a gold franc — a parallel currency to the official Swiss franc, with the fringe initiative likely triggering a broader debate about the role of the precious metal in the Alpine nation.

The initiative is part of “Healthy Currency,” a campaign sponsored by politicians from the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP) — the country’s biggest — that is seeking to capitalize on popular fears about global financial turmoil and inflation to reverse the government’s current policy on gold.

“I can imagine that this will spark some sort of debate about gold and there may be some pressure to accept the parallel currency,” said Dr. Gebhard Kirchgaessner, an economics professor at St. Gallen University. “But it won’t have any real effect on the economy. It seems incredible to imagine that there are people out there willing to buy millions of these things.”

Switzerland, which in 2000 became one of the last countries to decouple its currency from gold, is not the only place to contemplate a change in the precious metal’s role amid controversy over government involvement in the economy. In March, Utah became the first state in the U.S. to legalize gold and silver coins as currency, while similar legislation was considered in Montana, Missouri, Colorado, Idaho and Indiana.

“I want Swiss people to have the freedom to choose a completely different currency,” said Thomas Jacob, the man behind the gold franc concept. ”Today’s monetary system is all backed by debt — all backed by nothing — and I want people to realize this.”

Today I filed an Application with the George Magistrates Court (GRC Case 3052/11) to ask the Magistrate to issue an Order that gives me a Temporary Permit to operate my Bicycle Trailer on Public Roads in Eden District Municipality, pending the resolution of my Petition to the Dept. of Transport for a Permanent Bicycle Trailer Permit. This was in response to a letter from the WC Dept. of Transport that informed me that the Vehicle Technical Committee (VTC) had decided -- without doing any tests or investigations whatsoever; purely by thumb-sucking decision-making -- that my bicycle trailer was unstable; and hence I should be a denied a licence for it; after the IPP had approved my petition, pending the decision of the VTC.

So, on Tuesday, July 05, 2011 7:35 PM; I filed a Request to Mr. Arendse for further evidence and information from the VTC: Request Vehicle Technical Committee (VTC) ‘Unstability’ Evidentiary Info; for Appeal to be filed with Mr. Philip Magagane of NDoT: RE: Petition to use Haulin Colin Bike Trailers on a Public Road. (Annex D). I also informed him that I “shall also be filing an application with the local Magistrates court for an order, granting me a temporary permit to use my bicycle trailer, until this matter is finally resolved with the Dept of Transport.”

Please could the VTC provide me with the results of their investigation, and the detailed report as to how and why they allege bicycles and trailers are unstable; and how exactly they define ‘unstable’; particularly the tests done by the VTC on the safety aspects, including stability tests which are the foundation for their allegations that a combination of bicycle and trailer are unstable.

Are they alleging that bicycle’s and trailers are only unstable in South Africa? Or which other countries in the world -- where bicycles and trailers of all sizes and makes are legal and used by ecologically conscious persons and poor people every day of the week for the past almost 200 odd years since the invention of the bicycle in 1830 -- does the VTC allege that bicycles and trailers are also unstable in?

Please could you also provide me with the legislation that states that it is a citizens responsibility to provide evidence of stability for a vehicle; which is considered stable anywhere and everywhere else in the world; and not the Committee who disputes such stability’s responsibility to provide their evidence for their allegations.

A vision of self-sufficiency in Thailand. Agrarian values and the self-reliance they engender are the hallmarks of real freedom.

When thinking about "solutions" many are quick to cite organizing a protest and taking to the streets. Let's for a moment consider the mechanics of a protest, what it might accomplish, and what it may leave to be desired.

Take Glenn Beck's feckless and disingenuous 2010 "Restoring Honor" event in Washington D.C. It drew thousands of honest, well-intentioned people from all over the United States. Indeed, thousands of people filled up their Fortune 500 made cars with gas from Fortune 500 oil companies, drove countless miles, stopping along the way at Fortune 500 fast food restaurants, stayed at Fortune 500 run hotels, and stocked up on supplies purchased at Fortune 500 Walmart. They slaked their thirst under the hot August sun with cans of Fortune 500 Pepsi and Coke, and at the end of the day, they drove home, paid their Fortune 500 cable subscriptions to watch their Fortune 500 media reports, most likely on News Corporation's Fox News, a Council on Foreign Relations corporate member.

At best, all a protest will lead to, while we are so hopelessly dependent on this system, is a round of musical chairs inside the political arena, with perhaps superficial concessions made to the people. The vector sum however, will still be decidedly in favor of the global corporate-financier oligarchy.

If we understand that the fundamental problem facing not only America, but the entire world, is a global corporate-financier oligarchy that has criminally consolidated their wealth by "liberalizing" their own activities while strangling ours through regulations, taxes, and laws, we should then understand why events like Beck's "Restoring Honor" are not only fruitless, but in fact, counterproductive. We should also realize that any activity we commit ourselves to must be directed at this corporate-financier oligarchy rather than the governments they have co-opted and positioned as buffers between themselves and the masses.

While people understand something is wrong and recognize the necessity to do "something," figuring out what that "something" should be becomes incredibly difficult when so few understand how power really works and how to strip it away from the oligarchs that have criminally consolidated it.

Many thanks for what I interpret as your brutally honest angry statement. If your intention was to insult me; you are going to have to try a little harder! ;-)

It is almost impossible to insult me. I imagine the reason why it is so difficult to insult me, is because I know that whenever I give someone an honest blunt criticism piece of my mind, I share it sincerely as constructive criticism. I may be angry with them, but my intentions are not dishonourable. I want to share my anger with them, and get over it, and understand the source of our misunderstanding.

I assume, I know my intentions for sharing my anger are not malicious; hence I always give others the benefit of the doubt that their sharing of their anger is also with honourable constructive criticism intention. In Radical Honesty, to share constructive criticism is the highest form of respect and love. I know other cultures don’t share this perspective to constructive criticism, but I prefer to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. So, I appreciate your courage to confront me to my face with your honest blunt opinion about me – whether founded in fact or not – so that we can resolve our misunderstanding, and I can learn from your constructive criticism (if proven to be worthy).

A Petition to the Western Cape MEC for Transport and Public Works, Mr Robin Carlisle to approve a bicycle trailer to be used on a Public Road has been tenatively approved by the National Minister for Transport and Public Works.
I herewith petition the Minister to authorise in writing, either generally or specifically, the operation on a public road in the Western Cape, of the following Bicycle Trailer (known as a Haulin Colin (www.haulincolin.com) Bike Trailer, as used by ecologically conscious cyclists and small business owners in California, Seattle and elsewhere). I have been informed by Officials at George Motor Vehicle Licensing, that ‘bicycle trailers’ are prohibited by the Road Traffic Act: National Road Traffic Regulations, 1999: Section 330(1)(g). Traffic officials were at a loss to explain the logic of this law, which prohibits the poor and ecologically conscious from using bicycle trailers to transport their business or home produce, which would be a sustainable healthy business and personal transportation alternative with zero carbon dioxide vehicle emissions. Many felt citizens should be given financial incentives to do so.

Mr. MJ Gallant, Senior Manager at Traffic Law Administration, confirmed that the Petition had been approved, pending investigation by the Vehicle Technical Committee (VTC) and the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), which will, “if successful, enable the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) to compile the technical specifications before the matter can be legislated.”

I read your article -- 'New tendency' the most immediate threat to NDR - Nzimande.

I know some communists; honourable people. Their word is their honour. If they make an agreement, they keep the agreement. I know such capitalists too.

Then I know of people who call themselves communists who live like monarchists, regarding their choice of transport and accommodation. Not only do they live like monarchists, like slaveowners they hand out welfare breeding bribes, instead of welfare education bribes or welfare avoid breeding until you are self-sufficient in committed relationship. They prefer to hand out welfare poverty pimping bribery to the most vulnerable, for the same reason former slave-owners wanted their slaves to breed: more vote-farm poverty stricken cannon fodder slaves on their 'national democratic revolution' slavery plantations!

I know some media journalists who are 'non-racialists' who believe all whites and all blacks should become non-whites and non-blacks, and economic slaves to 'non-racialism' consumers. My point is that you can call yourself whatever you want; if you don't practice what you preach, your words mean sweet fuck all.

If you practice what you preach, and your word is your honour, and you confront the root causes of problems, then you will find that you can solve any problem; just like a mechanic can solve any problem in your car, by identifying the root cause of it.

Your national democratic revolution has sweet fuck all interest in identifying root causes of problems; and all interest in bullshitting your ignorant slaves on your welfare vote breeding plantation farms, that you are going to give them an economic utiopia, as long as they keep on breeding more poverty stricken voters for your next election, where you can then get yourself a new quadruple zero salary and all the perks that go with it.

Re: The National Democratic Revolution. The opponents of the ANCYL within the ANC are greatly handicapped by their unwillingness to spell out why Malema's demands would lead to disaster. The truth, of course, is that the state diamond mine, Alexkor (repeatedly shut for infractions of safety rules, loss-making and an irregular payer of wages) and Aurora mines, owned by a Zuma and a Mandela (shut for months, wages not paid, at least one worker suicide, the mine looted, and major problems over acid mine drainage) give a terrifying foretaste about what nationalised mines would be like.

Almost certainly, with the departure of most key managers and technicians, the mining sector as a whole would at best, limp along. Moreover, expropriation without compensation would put South Africa in breach of major treaty obligations, would cause a cessation of all foreign investment and the cutting off of credit. This would be accompanied by enormous capital flight. The nationalisation of the banks would see something similar occur right across the financial sector and there would be a large scale exodus of foreign and domestic capital and of skilled labour of every kind.

Similarly, expropriation of the land would quickly lead to a huge agricultural slump and to mass starvation. Moreover, all African experience suggests that the skilled managers, business people, technicians, commercial farmers and professionals who would exit the country under such circumstances would not return even if all these policies were later reversed, thus making recovery from the disaster effectively impossible.

State-owned power utility Eskom paid executive committee members 109% more than they were paid last year, according to its financial statements for the year ended March 31.

Eskom's directors' remuneration report reveals that R18.5-million was paid to executive committee members, compared to last year's R8.8-million. The biggest winner was human resources head Bhabhalazi Bulunga, who pocketed 507% more at R3-million, compared to last year's R501 000.

Of the two executive directors, chief executive Brian Dames was the highest paid at R5.7-million, a 0.9% increase. However, finance director Paul O'Flaherty took home 346% more at R4.9-million.

Releasing the group's financial results on Monday, Dames said his management had agreed not to take any bonuses if they could not keep the lights on or achieve targeted savings.

This was despite a public outcry over the pay and bonuses of state-owned enterprise executives, sparked by a high court claim filed by former Eskom chief executive Jacob Maroga for R85-million, which he said he would have earned had his contract not been terminated prematurely.

What are we and they to understand as the connection between population and security? Population is a central element in nearly any concept of national security.

And in many regions the potential for conflict arising from simple overpopulation and starvation is large and growing. There is, of course, nothing simple about these problems; those who feel inclined to dismiss the seriousness of this potential should consider the question: "How does one say `Lebensraum' in Chinese?"

It should also be clear that solutions to the pressures created by population growth and movement, pressures that threaten the security of so many states, are beyond the means of any single state. Migration today can be controlled only by international agreement.

Jason Moyo says Africans in Zimbabwe, including many in ZANU-PF are getting upset with how the Chinese are treating them: “Working for Chinese is 'hell on earth'”. China is building a massive new military college (wherefrom to direct its Southern Africa Colonial African Resource War) on the outskirts of Harare, which is described as “a monument to China's tightening hold on Zimbabwe.” It is also “a symbol of growing hostility from Zimbabwe's labour force towards Chinese employers. It is being built using a controversial Chinese loan and its workers have gone on strike to protest against beatings by their bosses and low pay.”

In the second article Paul Trewhala gives an interesting perspective to China's historical role in the ANC and current events. I particularly don't agree with his conclusion where he gives the ANC only two options to choose from. In my view there are far more than two options. However his his choice to narrow the ANC's options down to two, gave me the impression of a kind of 'good cop, bad cop' routine, pretending to project two opposing points of view, but in essence both cops have exactly the same goal.

I also don't think his observation and historical analysis of the ANC's motives are impartial or accurate reality, more like wishful thinking; but irrespective.

I read once that one of the most fundamental contributions the British Empire made to its colonies was the Jury system of law; imagine if the upcoming Chinese Empire colonialists would educate Africans to adopt a one-child only procreation policy? Now that would be one cultural revolution!

Scientists are warning of a potential marine massacre with a mass extinction of sea life akin to the death of the dinosaurs.

A new report says the seas are battling pollutants, overfishing and warming, and warns that without swift action the fight to save species could be lost.

The International Program on the State of the Oceans report brought together coral reef ecologists, toxicologists and fisheries scientists.

And when they compared notes, the result was grim.

Co-author Professor Ove Hoegh Guldberg, who specialises in reef ecosystems, says scientists found "unprecedented warming".

"We're seeing acidification in the ocean and now we're starting to see a drop in oxygen concentration throughout the major part of the ocean," he said.

"Now it's impacting directly on sea life, but the other is that it is a potential early step towards conditions which are associated with so-called mass extinction events."

Professor Guldberg does not want to be alarmist, but says a growing human population is to blame for many of the changes.

He warns the pressure will only increase, with the world's population set to grow by another 3 billion people in the next 30 to 50 years.
